Virtual School Tour
School Tours For Prospective Parents
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions we are unable to complete school tours this term. Please see below for more information on Brookfield Primary and a Virtual Photo Slideshow Tour.
Welcome to Brookfield Primary Academy
We are a 2 form entry school. As you can see from the floor plan all of the classrooms are off the main corridor and they all open up onto the outside space, this makes all of our classrooms lovely, bright and welcoming.
We have an extended 30 hour Nursery Provision.
We are extremely proud of the high quality education and opportunities we provide for all our pupils in the context of a safe, warm and caring environment. We are proud of the extensive resources available to our children and our high quality staff.
Our OFSTED inspection in July 2019 assessed us as good in all areas.
Brookfield is part of the LEO Academy trust of schools. Each of the schools in the trust, including Brookfield, offers its pupils the same opportunities in terms of for example instrumental teaching and orchestras, sporting opportunities and residential visits.
Please watch our short Virtual Photo Slideshow. It will show the provisions we have for nursery and reception children as well as years 1 to 6.
Brookfield Virtual Photo Slideshow - approx. 4 minsOur Nursery and Reception classrooms are a bright, stimulating environment with activities to really engage all children right from the start. We encourage children to develop their skills in all the different areas of learning. We also foster a love of reading from an early age by providing high quality, visually stimulating books and cosy and inviting book corners.
In terms of the curriculum day to day in reception, learning through play is emphasised with a wide range of activities both inside and outside to develop children’s fine motor, gross motor, academic, social and emotional skills.
Our nursery and reception classes have ready access to the outside area. Children are encouraged to use both inside and outside areas throughout the day. Our Early Years outdoor environment has extensive play and learning equipment, it has a partially covered roof so children are able to use the outdoors in all weathers. This area is separate to our main playground.
We encourage free flow in the Early Years so children can move from one area to another, accessing a wide range of activities. There is plenty on offer to interest all children. We encourage the development of children’s gross motor skills with hoops, balls, bikes and scooters. We have construction and ‘small world’ apparatus such as dinosaurs, dolls and playmobil to develop children’s imaginative and communication skills. Children also have ready access to paints and easels to again to develop their creative and fine motor skills.
Our Year 1 classrooms are next to our Early Years and they have their own outdoor learning area, this helps the children when they transition from Reception to Year 1. In year 1 we encourage independence and to continue to excite and stimulate children with bright, engaging displays and a wide range of resources.
We have a fantastic Chrome book programme from Years 3 to 6 (KS2), where every child is given their own Chrome book to keep for the duration of their time at our school. They are able access the curriculum through Google Classroom from school and at home.
The LEO Trust Director of Music works with all pupils on a weekly basis. We also have Sutton Music Service who provide instrumental lessons for children in KS2.
We have a fantastic outdoor classroom area, ‘Forest school’, all children will have the opportunity in an academic year to work with our Forest School teacher.
We are proud to promote our excellent learners across the school right through to the end of year 6.
We ensure that our classrooms have bright, engaging displays that children can look at and absorb to support their learning. Children also have ready access to a wide variety of high quality equipment and resources to support them with their learning.
Our school hall is used for assemblies, lunch and PE.
In terms of lunches, all infant children are eligible for a free lunch up until the end of year 2 and it’s well worth taking up this offer as we have a broad and appealing menu of food all cooked daily on site by our LEO catering team.
The children have 2 designated PE slots each week, one with our PE coach and one with their class teacher, either in our school hall or outside on our 3G pitch.
We have a Brookfield mini-bus.
Please do explore our website or contact our Office Manager, Mrs Langford if you have any questions.
We look forward to welcoming you to Brookfield in the near future.
