EYFS - Early Years Foundation Stage

Nursery

The Nursery children at Brookfield Primary School, take their first educational steps in a supported and exciting learning environment. The Nursery is closely connected within the EYFS setting and the children share their outdoor learning area with Reception. As a result, children become familiar with the Reception teachers and support staff and their transition into Reception and on to KS1 runs very smoothly. The Nursery environment offers an excellent array of activities and challenges, which the children engage with, enabling them to explore and develop their independence.

There are two Nursery sessions each day. The morning session starts at 8.45am and finishes at 11.45am and the afternoon session which starts at  12.15pm and finishes at 3.15pm. We also have children who attend for 30 hours each week 8.45am- 2.45pm (with the possibility to extend to 3.15pm). Each session is led by a fully qualified teacher and senior teaching assistant, giving a ratio of one adult to 13 children.

With tremendous outdoor and indoor facilities, including all-weather multi-purpose surfaces, a mud kitchen, raised beds and a forest school on site, children are given the best possible start in their education.

Reception

At Brookfield Primary School, we aim to capture and sustain young children’s interests and empower them to become motivated learners. We help them to take their first educational steps positively and to meet the wider world of education with confidence.

The Reception learning environment at Brookfield provides children with a safe and educationally challenging indoor and outdoor classroom. With tremendous outdoor and indoor facilities, including all-weather multi-purpose surfaces, a mud kitchen, raised beds and a forest school on site, children are given the best possible start in their education.

The progress that children make during their time in our Early Years setting is excellent. With a clear focus on language development, phonics and metacognition; our children are encouraged to make discoveries and thrive on new experiences.
